May 2025 Happy Spring!
Grad is next month! This is a time to celebrate the graduation of our wonderful Byng students. The grad committee helps run three grad
events: Graduation, Parent Reception and Dance, and Prom. The funds we have raised so far will contribute to many aspects of the prom, graduation reception, and dance event, including rentals, photography, catering, DJ, decorations, etc.

The Parent Grad Committee has started sending out updates regarding grad-related events and important dates and information for grade 12 students and their families/guardians now. GRAD CEREMONY: The School sent out information on Friday.
1. JUNE 14 - GRAD RECEPTION AND DANCE
PLACE: The Great Hall at the NEST in the Student Union Building at UBC - 6133 University Blvd
TIME: 5:30pm - 10:30PM
FORMAT: This is a stand-up, reception style event with canapés, non-alcoholic refreshments and, of course, dancing to Lord Byng’s very own, most requested, DJ - Mr. Johnston. There will be some general seating available for those who need to give their legs a rest during
the evening. This event is attended by the graduate and 2 family members (please see ticket maximum below for more information) and
some school staff.
DRESS CODE: Cocktail attire.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF TICKETS: 3 per graduating student - includes 1 ticket for the graduating individual and 2 tickets for family members. Due to limited capacity at the venue and the size of our graduating class, 3 will be the maximum number of tickets sold to each graduate. This is to ensure that there is space for all graduating students to be able to attend.
PRICE OF TICKETS: $130 per ticket
*This will be a ticketless event. A check in desk will be available during the reception for you to check in, which will be done by your graduate’s last name. Only those with pre-purchased tickets will be permitted to enter the venue.
HOW TO PURCHASE: SchoolCashOnLine - Sign into your child's account and look for optional items, click on "Grad Reception and Dance" to purchase tickets.

2. JUNE 22 - PROM
PLACE: The Marriott Pinnacle Hotel - 1128 West Hastings Street
TIME: Arrival 8:30pm - 9:00pm; Event 8:30pm - 12:00am
FORMAT:
This is an event for the graduates and a guest, if they choose to bring one. There will be adult chaperones; however, this event is for the graduates and their guests only. Sorry parents, this is one event not for you - you’ll have to wait to hear all about the fun after the event from your graduate!
There will be food and treat stations, non-alcoholic drinks, dancing and a Photo Booth. The theme for the space and decorations will be “Masquerade”.
There will be a security check prior to entering the prom space. Any alcohol, cannabis, vapes, cigarettes, etc will be confiscated and not returned.
Students may not rent a Marriott hotel room even with parental consent.
DRESS CODE: Formal attire.

3. GRAD CEREMONY

GRAD CITATION (TO BE COMPLETED BY THE GRAD) DEADLINE May 15th - Grad citations are personal messages that are traditionally read about each student as they are recognized during the graduation event on June 6th. It should be brief but include thank you' s as well as comments on interests and future plans. Please note, all citations will be proofread by the administration. If you do not submit in time, or if your citation message is not approved, we will include a generic message on your behalf. NOTE: Please click this link to complete the

Commencement Ceremony Friday, June 06, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm (projected end time)
This event is held at the Chan Centre at UBC. The grads themselves do not need a ticket. Grade 12 students receive TWO Complimentary
tickets, for their parents or guardians. Please see the information regarding ticket sales below.
TICKET SALES START MAY 2ND AT NOON.
Ticketing Round 1:
Friday May 2nd at NOON - Tuesday, May 20th at 11:59pm PST
Online booking for a maximum of 2 complimentary guest tickets and a maximum of 1 additional paid ticket are open and may only be accessed by entering your unique promo code. See next page for booking instructions. Book all of your tickets for this round in one order.
Ticketing Round 2:
Wednesday, May 21st at NOON - Wednesday, June 4th at 11:59pm PST
Online bookings for a maximum of 2 additional paid tickets are open. No promo code required. Complimentary tickets are no longer available.
These tickets are first-come, first-served, until available seats are all booked.
Ticketing Round 3:
Thursday, June 5th at NOON PST
Online bookings for any remaining paid tickets are open, without limits.
The Chan Centre Box Office will be open from 12 Noon on event day.

Booking Instructions
1) Enter your promotional code (Round 1 only)
Enter your promotional code located at the bottom of the screen
Promotional code: 24LBH; followed by your student number (not PEN).(eg:23LBH12345678
Click Go: A blue bar should appear on top of the screen saying that the code has been accepted. Your unique promo access code may only be used once. Please order all your Round 1 tickets at the same time. No promo code is required for Round 2.
2) Click BUY beside the ceremony. You need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the ceremony. Here you may choose up to 2
complimentary tickets and one paid ticket.
3) Create or login into your account. If you haven't purchased tickets to an event at the Chan Centre, or any of its ticketing partners
previously, you will need to create an account.
4) Complete the order. The order is completed once you have a six-digit confirmation number from our system.
5) Check your email. You should also receive an email confirmation moments after completing the order. Be sure to check your junk mail or spam folder in your email program, as tickets sometimes end up there!
*Students must pay the valedictory fee on School Cash Online to be guaranteed 2 (TWO) complimentary guest tickets for the ceremony.
Complimentary tickets may only be reserved in the Round 1 window. We strongly recommend students book their tickets as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee two tickets for students who miss the deadline for booking tickets in advance. There will be no exceptions for those who miss this Round 1 window; please arrange your guest tickets accordingly. Any unclaimed tickets from the first round will be added to the extra ticket inventory and distributed evenly in the next ticket round. Dance, and Prom. Tickets for the Grad Reception and Dance will be available through school cash online. Prom tickets can be purchased through e transfer starting April 14th and we will have an early bird special!

GRAD DIRECT FUNDRAISING APPEAL
Ticket prices for the Grad Reception and Dance will be based on the results of the Direct Grad Appeal. The Grad 2025 Appeal is a simple way to help ensure that all members of the class of 2025 have a safe and extraordinary graduation.
The funds raised will contribute to the many aspects of the Grad Reception and Dance event: rentals, photographer, catering, DJ, decorations, etc.
Tax receipts will be issued automatically for donations of $20 or more.
Information on how to donate through school cash online will be sent by email please make sure on the mailing list. Thanks in advance from your class of 2025!
