Grad 2022 

Hello Byng families! 


The Byng Parent Grad Committee has been diligently working to help support the celebrations of our well deserved Class of 2022. Thank-you to everyone who supported our fundraising initiatives. These celebrations include the Grad Dinner & Dance, Grad Prom, and the Commencement (Graduation) Ceremony. It is very important to know that some activities are organized by the school and some, like Prom, are organized entirely by students and parents. Please read below for very important information about upcoming events.  


First, if you are parent of a grade 12 student please sign up ASAP to our email distribution list. This will ensure you receive the most up to date information from the Grad Committee. Sign up here.


Grad Prom is organized by parents and student and will be held on Sunday June 26th. In order to proceed with the event we need to sell a minimum of 175 tickets before May 20th. Please see attached brochure for more information.

The funds will automatically be deposited into a Lord Byng PAC bank account and an email confirmation will be sent to us confirming the purchase. It is important that BOTH the STUDENT NAME and their FAVOURITE SONG be noted in the message section of the e transfer. If you forget, please email the info to

If your grade 12 student wants to bring a plus 1 then they need to send $190 or buy a second ticket later if they are not sure now. We need to sell a minimum of 175 tickets by May 20th to ensure the event is a go. All grade 12 students should be following  @byng_grad_committee_2022. This is for students only. Lots of info is available on this instagram account. It is updated often. 

The Prom will include a reception style dinner at the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel, a mocktail slushi bar, a retro candy bar, DJ Jordan Zwicker, photo booths, prizes, amazing decorations and a lot of fun. The theme for both the Dinner Dance and Prom is Starry Night. A commemorative Prom ticket has been designed by a grad student. The tickets will be available for pick up in early June. An email with the specific date and time will be sent to the purchasers of the tickets towards the end of May.

Although this is a student only event, there will be 1 parent (grade 11 or younger) chaperone for every 20 students, hotel security, coat check and no in and out privileges as we want this event to not only be a lot of fun for the kids, but we also want them to be safe.


The Prom is not sponsored by the school but is organized by the students and parents.

OTHER GRAD EVENTS - Sponsored by the School


GRAD PARENT/STUDENT DINNER DANCE SATURDAY, JUNE 11TH, 2022- Sponsored by the school but organized by the parents, students and school.


This will be a formal, buffet dinner with dancing to follow. The event will be attended by the graduating students and their parents. Teachers are also welcomed to attend as are the principals. The MC is Andy Johnston who is the teacher sponsor of the grad student committee and has historically been the DJ for all previous grad dinner dance events. We ask that families to buy their 1 grad ticket at $90.00 and then guest tickets at $120. There are no restrictions as this time. The venue has the capacity of 1,040 so if capacity levels stay at 100%, everyone who wants to go should be able to get a ticket.


The event will be at The Westin Bayshore Vancouver, 1601 Bayshore Dr., Vancouver

Reception 5:30pm to 6:30 pm;

Dinner and Dance 6:30pm to 10:30pm

Photographer will be available from 5:30pm to 9:00pm for family photos


This event will be ticketless. A check in desk will be available during the reception for you to confirm your parties table number. You will check in by your graduate’s last name.

We're using to organize the seating for the grad parent/student dinner and dance at the Westin Bayshore June 11th 5:30-10:30pm.

  • The tables are rounds of 10.

  • One person can sign up everyone at one table but please ensure the full name of each person at the table is included.

  • Graduates must sit with their guests for dinner.

  • You must have already purchased your tickets online before you can sign up.

  • The table numbers on the sign up do not correspond to the table numbers at the event. You will need to check in during the reception to get your table number.

  • Comments can be included in the sign up if needed.

Any families who are facing financial hardship will be able to get complimentary tickets for all these events. We do not want any financial barriers to prohibit a student or their parents from attending this memorable occasion. Anyone in this situation simply needs to reach out to their school counsellor and tell them how many tickets they require.

The Commencement Ceremony will be held at 4pm on June 3rd at the Chan Centre and now families may claim their guaranteed 2 (TWO) complimentary tickets and may buy one additional guest ticket during the



First Round of sales April 11th at noon to May 11th at 11:59 pm (last chance to get two complimentary tickets). 


Second Round: May 12 at noon May 29 at 11:59 pm – Promo code will not be needed.

You may purchase a limit of 2 tickets.


Third Round: May 30 at noon – Any remaining tickets have no limits
