Please consider supporting kids from Britannia Secondary!

Last year, Lord Byng's PAC made a donation to Britannia Secondary's Street 2 Peak initiative which allowed students from Britannia to train for and then participate in climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. We had wonderful feedback from the teachers and students involved in the trip and they were so grateful for our support. Our new Lord Byng Principal, Geoff Taylor, came to us from several years as Principal at Britannia and has shared with us another way parents may wish to support the Britannia community and some of Vancouver's most vulnerable young people.

The Britannia Support Society (BSS) supports the students of Britannia Secondary: with funding for athletics, including equipment and uniforms, travel expenses for tournaments; with grants for students to attend / have opportunities in extra-curricular, clubs, sports and education beyond the school year; with grants for students to access Music, Hockey, Volleyball, Ultimate and Basketball in and beyond the school; and with many other supporting endeavours – including things such as funding for the Street2Peak initiatives (i.e. Kilimanjaro and Peru), and annual bursaries to Britannia Grads for post-secondary. The Society is hosting its 4th annual BSS Dinner, on May 25, 2016, at the Sheraton Wall Centre and the society relies on the dinner for much of its funding. The cost will be $250 a plate or $2500 for a table of ten, with a number of speakers and a Silent Auction as well. You can get a sneak peek at the delicious menu by clicking here.

Britannia is selling seven tables, and a significant portion of the ticket price is eligible for a tax receipt (approximately $150). The food is excellent, and the event is unpretentious, pleasant and inspirational. One of Britannia’s Street2Peak students, Jesse, was a speaker last year, and she’s marvellous.
